I am a Librarian and Associate Professor at Cerritos College. I received a Master’s in Library and Information Science from San José State University in 2001. Currently, I coordinate Acquisitions and Collection Development. I have been part of the Cerritos College campus community since 2004.
In addition to coordinating responsibilities in the library, I teach instruction/workshop sessions and credit library research course. In addition, I am a pioneer on campus by being part of the first campus to teach an introduction to library research course within The PUENTE Program (the National Model for Student Success).
I was born and raised in Orange County, California and grew up bilingual. My parents are both of Mexican descent, and my paternal grandparents spoke predominantly Spanish. My parents did not go to college, but they knew the importance of education and encouraged all of their children to go to college. I am the oldest of three and always knew that I had to be a good example to my younger siblings. Growing up, my aunt and cousin who were teachers, motivated me to become an educator.
