Researching Your Cultural Artifact: Find Books

Once you have chosen a topic and done your background research you will be ready to conduct more comprehensive research using books.

Use the Library Catalog available to find books. Books can provide a broad overview of a topic or in-depth information. You can search for books by author, title, subject, or keyword. 

Use words that best describe your topic to search for books in the catalog.  For example:

  • Mass media
  • Horror films
  • Television
  • Social media
  • Video games
  • Performance enhancing drugs
  • Junk food
  • Any person or musical group

For books on Popular Culture in general, use the following terms to search by SUBJECT for books on your topic:

  • Popular culture
  • Popular culture-History-20th century
  • Popular culture-United states
  • Popular culture-California
