If you find a book that looks good, look at the subject headings assigned to that book and try a search using those terms.
If there is a performer known for social protest, like Pete Seeger, you can try searching their name. If you are interested in a particular movement, like civil rights, you can try searching for that term instead of the broad ones above. Ex: music and civil rights movement
