Finding Books on Your Topic

Once you have chosen a topic and done your background research you will be ready to conduct more comprehensive research using books.

Use the Library Catalog to find books. Books can provide a broad overview of a topic or in-depth information. You can search for books by author, title, subject, or keyword.

Use the following terms to search by SUBJECT for books about College Costs:

• College Graduates
• College Costs
• Degrees, Academic -- United States
• Educational Attainment
• Education, Higher -- United States
• Education, Higher -- Aims and Objectives -- United States
• Labor supply -- Effect of education on -- United States

Books about Majors/Careers:

Try doing a Subject Search for a specific career or industry followed by the term Vocational Guidance. 

For example: Teaching - Vocational Guidance or Health - Vocational Guidance

You can also find a series of career books by doing a title search starting with "Careers in"

Refine search results by Availability and select Available Online.

Further refine the results by Resource Type and select Books.
