Library Card
Students: Your current Student Photo ID is used as your library card and is required for all library transactions. You can obtain your ID at the Photo ID Center.
Faculty and Staff: Cerritos College ID or other valid proof of identification is required for all library transactions.
Material/Book Checkout
You may check out up to twenty (20) books at one time, but no more than five(5) books per subject. Books are checked out for 21 days (three weeks) and may be renewed twice. This does not apply to reserve material. Reference books and periodicals may not be checked out. All checkouts must be completed fifteen minutes prior to closing.
Renewal
You may bring materials back to the library or use your MyLibrary account online to renew them. You may renew regularly circulating items twice. Materials may be renewed by telephone. There is a one (1) hour waiting period to renew hourly reserve material and a 24 hour waiting period to renew reserve material that may be borrowed one day or more.
Return of Materials
Books may be returned to the staff at the Circulation Desk, to the book return slot at the Circulation Desk, or to the outside book returns (one located outside the main entrance to the building and the other located outside the library proper). Please do not return pamphlets or reserve materials to the outside book returns. Reserve materials must be returned to the staff at the Circulation Desk.
Reserves
Please check the reserves terminals at the Circulation Desk or Reference area for materials placed on reserve (such as textbooks, old examinations, etc.). Loan periods for these materials vary.
Periodicals
Magazines, journals, and newspapers do not leave the library. You may photocopy the information needed.
Photocopiers
Black and white copies are 10 cents a page. Color copies are 50 cents a page. By adding money to the Student ID card you are able to make copies. You can also purchase a print card and add money to the card to make copies.
Computer Workstations
Computer workstations are available in the library to conduct research using the online catalog, subscription databases, and the Internet. Computer workstations are available in the library Research Room and Computer Lab to conduct research using the online catalog, subscription databases, and the Internet. All computers have the complete Microsoft Office Suite. You can print from these computers using your college ID with money added or by purchasing a print card and adding money to that.
CSULB and Cerritos Public Library
As a Cerritos College student you may obtain a library card at CSU Long Beach and Cerritos Public Library. Bring your current, valid Cerritos College ID to the Circulation Desk of these libraries to request a library card.
Lost Materials
If you lose any library material, you are responsible for the replacement cost and a processing fee of $5.00. If a book that was thought to be lost is found within six (6) months, the replacement cost will be refunded.
LIBRARY ITEMS AVAILBLE AT THE CIRCULATION DESK:
Cables: Various cables are available for PC and MAC laptops at the Circulation Desk. The loan period is 4 hours, renewals are allowed until 15 minutes before closing time. These MAY leave the library but are not available for overnight checkout.
Calculators: Graphing and scientific calculators are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. The loan period is 4 hours, renewals are allowed until 15 minutes before closing time. These MAY leave the library and are available for overnight checkout.
Cellphone Charging Stations*: A free charging station is located inside the library, across from the Circulation Desk. Equipped with both Micro-USB (Android) and Apple (iPhone) cables.
Earphones*: Earphones are available for purchase at the Circulation Desk for $1
Earplugs*: Complimentary earplugs are available at the Circulation and Reference desks.
Rulers: Footlong rulers are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. The loan period is 4 hours, renewals are allowed until 15 minutes before closing time. These MAY leave the library but are not available for overnight checkout.
Whiteboard Dry Erase Markers: Marker sets with erasers and cleaning fluid are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. The loan period is 4 hours, renewals are allowed until 15 minutes before closing time. These MAY leave the library but are not available for overnight checkout.
A non-student is one who resides in our District, serving the cities of Norwalk, Cerritos, Downey, Bellflower, Artesia, Lakewood, La Mirada or Hawaiian Gardens and is 18 years of age or older. A $10.00 per year fee will be charged for the issuance of library cards to non-students. To obtain non-student borrowing privileges, you must show a valid driver’s license or a California ID and a current bill or financial statement that has been mailed to your residence within the last two months. For all non-student transactions, a valid driver’s license or a California ID is required and must be shown at the time of check out or renewal of library materials.

Children are welcome to visit the library with adult supervision. Do not leave children unattended in the library. The library is not responsible for the safety of your child. Children left unattended in the library will be reported to Campus Police.
Please watch your valuables. Do not leave books, purses, backpacks, etc. unattended. The library is not responsible for damage or theft of your personal items.
IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE THEFT OF BOOKS AND LIBRARY MATERIALS, STATE LAW AUTHORIZES THE DETENTION FOR A REASONABLE PERIOD OF ANY PERSON USING THESE FACILITIES SUSPECTED OF COMMITTING "LIBRARY THEFT" (PENAL CODE SECTION 490.5).
