LIBR50: Introduction to the College Library

LIBR 50 is a .5 unit course that familiarizes students with basic but valuable library resources that promote academic success. LIBR 50 encourages students to explore the library and seek help from librarians. Upon completion of this course, students may choose to take LIBR 100, which offers more advanced assignments for a deeper understanding on how to navigate academic libraries.

Expected Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will:

  • Learn basic library vocabulary to better communicate at the library
  • Understand the role of each library department
  • Navigate through basic features of the library homepage
  • Locate books in print and online
  • Locate articles from databases
