An Overview of Writing in College

In college you will encounter many types of writing. As you will find, different classes require different types of writing. For example:

  • An English course might require you to complete a literary analysis
  • Chemistry might entail a detailed lab report
  • Human Communications might ask that you perform an argumentative speech

Every type of writing, whether it be cause and effect, comparison and contrast, process analysis, or argumentative, requires different elements.
